Anson Zwingelberg is a dance artist and educator based in South Carolina. He currently performs with Pam Tanowitz Dance and Lucinda Childs Dance Company, with recent appearances in new work presented at the Royal Opera House, Paris Opera’s Palais Garnier, Lincoln Center, Teatro Real de Madrid, Rockefeller Center, Bard SummerScape, and Opera Philadelphia.

He earned his BFA in Dance from The Juilliard School and previously performed with Charlotte Ballet, ZviDance, and New York Theatre Ballet.

Merce Cunningham's legacy has played a significant role in shaping Anson's artistic perspective. His engagement with Cunningham includes performing in the Merce Cunningham Centennial's Night of 100 Solos at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and serving as an authorized instructor of Cunningham Technique® through the Merce Cunningham Trust.

Alongside an active performance career, Anson regularly teaches for universities, pre-professional studios, and professional companies. Working extensively between professional and educational settings has shaped the way he approaches dance. He is interested in the place where discipline and individuality meet, and in how rigorous training can help reveal rather than replace the individual artist.

For Anson, performing and teaching have never been separate pursuits. Each continually informs the other, shaping not only how he works, but how he understands dance itself.

      In addition to his artistic training, Anson held several leadership and teaching roles at Juilliard. He was a Juilliard BFA Audition Demonstrator and Moderator (2015, 2016, 2017), he served as Head Resident Assistant and Teacher’s Assistant for the Juilliard Dance Summer Intensive (2014, 2015, 2016), a Juilliard Colloquium Peer Mentor (2014–2015), an Orientation Leader (2016), and a Diversity Advocate (2014–2015).
